The Murphy House is a two-story log house with a two-story framed addition. Dendrochronological analysis has shown that the timbers used to construct the log house were felled from the winter of 1838/9 through to the winter of 1839/40, suggesting that the building was constructed at this latter date or shortly thereafter. Dendrochronology was unable to provide a date for the framed section of the house.
