The Sellman House has two construction phases that were assessed for dendrochronology. The earliest section is now the kitchen of the present house. A brick in the outside chimney wall of this section bears the initials WA and the date 1735 which were pressed into the clay before firing. The interior of the kitchen has been altered through the years to such a degree that nothing remains to indicate its original appearance. The secondary house has a typical side-hall, double-parlor plan.
Dendrochronological analysis has shown that the second building phase was constructed from timbers felled in the winter of 1840/1. The primary phase was unsuitable for sampling due to the timbers not retaining the minimum number of annual rings.
